Competitive golfers are always in search of the elusive characteristic called confidence. For some, they had it and now have “lost it.” Others, claim never to have had it, and aren;t really sure what it is. Still more know what it is because they “see it in others,” but don’t think they have enough for themselves. Read about, watch, or listen to athletes as they talk about confidence, and how revered this trait is. The specific answer for optimal confidence is somewhat dependent on each person’s own set of circumstances. Talent, opportunity, skill, luck, and many other factors can be plugged into the confidence equation. However, there are 4 steps you can use to instill the confidence of a championship golfer.

Picture yourself standing on the tee box of your favorite short 4 par. You’ve got your driver in hand. This hole is designed with risk-reward written all over it. If you hit it long and straight, you can get very near or maybe on the green with your driver to set up for an easy birdie. If you mishit it, you are looking at hazards or o/b and a balloon score.

Implementing a golf strength training program will prevent and/or reduce bouts of low back pain and injury.

Apparently the average golf score is somewhere around 106. When you consider that many golfers are shooting scores in the 70s, 80s and 90s this must mean that an awful lot of men and women are shooting in the 110s, 120s and above. Perhaps that sounds familiar?

Let’s get down and dirty about the word “feel” and how I apply it to golf the “Without Practice” way so you can shave some strokes effortlessly this weekend. You know deep down if not at the top of your head, that when you feel good, you will perform or act your best in anything, right? Most of us struggle with our feelings because we just let them occur based on whatever is happening in our lives at the time.

There may be no better way to immediately lower your golf scores than to customize your set make-up. For a very long time the typical set of golf clubs has been what is known as an 8-3-1 set. This means there are 3 woods: driver, 3-wood, and 5-wood. The eight irons in this configuration are typically the 3-iron through pitching wedge, and the last club being the putter. This leaves room for two additional clubs, usually the sand wedge and one other club of the player’s choice.

The off season is a great time for cleaning your clubs and doing other repairs and maintenance on your equipment. It’s also a great time to take inventory of what you have, what you don’t have and what you’ll probably need to replace for next season.
